Christy Lee Rogers has both been featured and interviewed on Empty Kingdom. Her work is amazing, deep, and beautiful. For the EK Sketchbook series she has given us a peek behind the scenes, at her notebook, some work in progress, and the photographs that inform and shape her pieces. This first image is the newest work that I’ll release this spring. Called “A Quarter of a Million Miles.” Thought it could be fun to see this as a point of reference to the rest of the images and notes below.
“Ballerine” – One of my original images from my experimental years, before I released works in 2009. Shot with film, but I felt it was too grainy, so I switched to digital. This image in currently not available.
2 rain images that have never been released. Shot in 2005 during my experimental years of finding my style. I experimented with every type of water I could find. Loved the messiness of water and mud. 35 mm film, shot at night.
Self portraits in bathtubs… 2007 as I was doing experiments with water. Found out fast that the bathtub was not going to work. I shot some video in it too.
I keep note books throughout the year of ideas, how I feel, concepts, quotes, titles I think of while driving, etc. Songs I write. These are a few.
And some other self portraits… traveling around the US getting inspired.
New self portrait….
