Japanese Graphism at Made in Japan Exhibition (8 pics)

For the “month of graphism” of Echirolles (southeastern France), the exhibition Made in Japan highlights Japanese art and design, revealing a subversive and rare aesthetic universe. From fashion to literature or illustration, Japanese art is known for transforming codes by proposing an avant-garde point of view, but also for preserving traditional values and high philosophical concepts. This harmony between innovation and tradition is a part of Japanese people daily life in every detail : graphic design is therefore very important because it is a part of a way of living. The exhibition is focused also on packaging, magazines and other visual supports. In Japan, the word “artist” does not exist because it is the same as “artisan”. This is the key of Made in Japan, creating a fusion between a strong aesthetic and a humble and simple way of approaching it.
