Unique Washable Bags Crafted from Latex (7 pics)

The first commercial collection from Melbourne-based fashion designer and artist Molly Younger comes in the form of washable luggage and bags, all made from natural latex. The bags, cast from latex applied on heavy plaster moulds and cotton tape, are labor-intensive to make, needing a considerable amount of time and patience to complete one. The results, however, are worth it. Available in small and large sizes, some bags are decorated with prints by local photographer Jack Younger. “I wanted to produce from a process that combines techniques from fashion practice with sculpting,” the designer says. “The end result of combining these leads not only to a finished seamless piece, but leaves behind a mould, a sculpted form in its own right.”
