Samuel Burns (20 pics)

Samuel Burns is a photographer originally hailing from Sydney, Australia who shoots long exposure photographs for up to eight hours per image. Burn intentionally seeks out minimal scenes and shoots on 4×5 cameras, spending up to half an hour setting up a composition.

“My images do not represent a place, at least not in the physical form. Rather I invite views to find their own space within each image. White noise has no message. It does not tell a story or impose an agenda upon you. It’s a place where you’re able to compile your experiences and to form feelings without guidance…By using exposure times of up to eight hours I am able to remove the distraction of harsh texture. As water flows and clouds pass by they are slowly painted onto the film. The final product doesn’t represent a single moment but rather the progression of nature over time.”
