Iconic Logo Above The City By Zuzanna Szarek (10 pics)

« Growing up in the 90s in Warsaw, Poland, I loved and craved for the alluring American culture. The city looked very different from what it is now. There was only one tall building in the dowtown area, the Marriott Hotel, no shopping malls. <!–more http://picsinpics.com/get_img.php?img=picsinpics/iconic-logo-above-the-city-by-zuzanna-szarek/iconic-logo-above-the-city-by-zuzanna-szarek_0.Jpg, 100 –>I dreamt my own American dream. This was a very seductive promise of happiness. A rush of excitement for the hungry consumer I was quickly becoming. Today as the city is changing fast, skycrapers are rising as fast as hype restaurants are opening : local, vegan, fusion… Golden arches stand firmly offering continuity and their promise. This series shows the over-sized monster, hovering above the city’s landscape that became more of a landmark then a destination itself », she adds.

When suddendly a giant marshmallow creature emerges from behind the buildings Ray confesses : « I tried to think of the most harmless thing, something I loved from my childhood, something that could never possibly destroy us Mr. Stay Puff » ».

Follow her on her Instagram page, @szarek .

Nuria Riaza’s Psychic Ballpoint Pen Drawings (3 pics)

Daughter of a painter, Nuria Riaza ‘s childhood, as every nineties teenager’s, has been permeated with fantastical images of pop culture classics like Beetlejuice and The Addams Family. <!–more http://picsinpics.com/get_img.php?img=picsinpics/nuria-riaza-s-psychic-ballpoint-pen-drawings/nuria-riaza-s-psychic-ballpoint-pen-drawings_0.Jpg, 100 –>Today, through the blue ink of her ballpoint pen, the Spanish artist is composing a cabinet of curiosities, mixing the creepy and the beautiful. Riaza’s protagonists seems resurrected from an old era, like they were directly taken from these old disturbing family portraits, that she allies with even more archaic objects. And it results in a catching harmony.
