This Chinese autonomous train uses painted lines instead of rails (6 pics)

China has unveiled an amazing autonomous train, driverless, that uses simple lines painted on the ground instead of traditional rails! Entitled  ART , for Autonomous Rail Rapid Transit , this strange mix between a train, a bus and a tram is entirely electric and uses virtual tracks to follow its route. A very innovative concept which will allow to enlarge or modify the transport network by greatly reducing the price of infrastructures. Indeed, constructing 1km of track for this autonomous train will cost about $ 2 million, instead of $ 102 million for a traditional train. The autonomous ART train was developed by the Chinese company CRRC , and the first line is expected to be launch in 2018 in Zhuzhou City.
